Best News Ever!

B

I love the gospel. I truly believe it is not only good news, but the BEST NEWS EVER! As I consider the reality of who Jesus is (the sinless Son of God and God made flesh) and what He did to make a way for us to be in right relationship with Him, I am humbled, convicted, and overwhelmed with hope and gratitude. It is a truth that excites and energizes me. It’s not enough for me to experience and understand the BEST NEWS EVER for myself. That would not only be incredibly selfish, but it would also be downright hateful and would demonstrate an incomplete knowledge of the gospel. I want to share the truth with as many people as I can. The BEST NEWS EVER is for EVERYBODY and I want to tell them. As much I want to tell everybody, I understand my limitations. I am only one person and can only be in one place at a time. But, what if I could duplicate myself? Obviously, I’m not talking about some weird, mad scientist, cloning initiative. Even I couldn’t handle more than one of me. What if I could cultivate a passion for sharing the BEST NEWS EVER in the hearts and lives of others? The ability to share the gospel with EVERYBODY would increase exponentially! Turns out, I CAN!

In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul tells the Corinthian church, “Be imitators of me, I am of Christ.” At times, people will do what you tell them to do. Without question there is value in telling people they need to share the BEST NEWS EVER with EVERYBODY. Some will take the challenge and step out in faith to represent the gospel, but many won’t. The best way to pass passion for the gospel on to others is to have them participate in the work of sharing with you. Imitation is most likely to occur through participation. If we want others to pick up a passion for the gospel, we need to create moments where they can see and experience the passion with us.

Imitation is most likely to occur through participation.

This is why I continue to participate in mission trips with various organizations to various locations. They provide me with the opportunity both to preach from the platform and to participate in partnership with youth and adults. The passion from the pulpit gives way to practical application in the real world. I am grateful for the opportunity to come alongside Pastor Mike and his team. I am grateful for the chance to partner with MissionServe and our missionaries here and abroad. I am grateful for the chance to preach and practice passion for the gospel in real world situations with youth and adults. It is my hope and prayer that God will use these opportunities to duplicate the parts of my passion and heart that align with His.
